It's so funny how we look to Eckhart or any other teacher to answer our questions. His answers are always amazing and enlightened and very valuable, of course. But what he teaches, about being in the present, is really the only answer we need.
When we allow ourselves to be in the now, all of that same information that Eckhart has access to, is there for us to know as well:)

Hi Vim & Namaste Radio
Your answers leave me in peace. I see the whole picture now. As Eckhart says nothing outside of ourselves can satisfy us or make us happy. Unlike intellectual understanding of this concept that happens in a flash, its realisation happens gradually. It feels as if I am slowly sinking into peace. Yes the outside events keep registering their effects - but unlike earlier, their influence on "I" the formless silence is slowly waning. Peace and stillness are everywhere. I can see that there is still light years to travel - but the journey will now be blissful irrespective of what happens in the manifested environment.

Hi, Vim. Thanks for your comment & response to harikrv's question. I love your point about hot/cold, pleasure/pain being different degrees of the same subject. Just like heads or tails are different sides of the SAME coin.

Hi Harikry,Greetings, I too have examined this question. When looked at from a non dual perspective the "answer" became apparent. Shortly afer seeing this, a verse came to me which made it clear. Here it is.

It's all the same....

Hot and cold are the same thing
It's just a matter of degree

Pleasure and pain are the same thing.
To much pleasure will surly lead to pain.

Being a hero or a zero is the same thing
A zero is a hero.
And a hero is more often than not a zero.

So, to embrace one and not the other is to create conflict in ourselves.
Bearing in mind that pain is not suffering.
Suffering is resisting pain.
Suffering is also resisting pleasure.

Good and bad
Glade and sad
Love and hate
Yes and no
Believe and doubt
Same coin different sides.

Things are what they are.

Love Vim

Dear Eckhart
I know questions have already been chosen. However I need to ask this question that is in me. Probably it can be taken up at some appropriate time.
You have written extensively about the pain body and how it tricks me into identification with itself. While observing myself I was surprised to notice what I call a "pleasure body" that tries to take me over and lead me into huge problems. This pleasure body provides great happiness and blows the future prospects out of proportion. It goes to the length of making me over confident and fills me with false hopes about the future. Ultimately the crash comes when I am led to behave in a rash manner and end up ruining the objectives I set to achieve. This takes the route to doom which is paved with roses. It is very difficult to identify and disown in myself as it lulls me to sleep by its sweet words.
I would like to hear your words on this.

There was one important question in the chat room last night. Since she didn't post it here, I'm going to add it.

The question was, "what do you do if your NOW really SUCKS?" The listener wanted to know more about what to do if your present moment is painful or unbearable.

David, I think you mentioned that you'd be writing about this in the Compassionate Eye?

Yes, it was wonderful:) What a fantastic question Jill brought forth about politics and what makes a great leader. All the callers had great questions! And Eckhart was inspiring as always:)

It was quite wonderful to hear Eckhart venture into the need for people who feel the calling to go into politics and bring consciousness. And I so much appreciated all he said on how Presence can inform us on all of these fronts that so affect our world.
