Give Feedback for Your Forgotten Self

Did you find Your Forgotten Self helpful? Do you have a message for David Robert Ord?

I loved the book. My local library got it from another library in another state and let me have it for a couple months. I think I read it through 5 times. I encourage you to do a new blog on it after the Little Prince blog which I have enjoyed. In hopes that Your Forgotten Self gets reprinted might I suggest ( and I forget what page) you mention the conflict in the Baltics. Did you mean the Balkans? I'm assuming you did since there has been much conflict there in the 90s.

This is a book I will read again and again!

Thank you!

Your comment is much valued, philo. Glad you found Your Forgotten Self helpful. Yes, the new blog is now underway at Consciousness Rising. You are quite correct, of course: the Baltics are quite different from the Balkans. We will correct it when a reprint is ordered.

Had 5 Spiritual Awakenings since 10March1975 until recently. Living closer to the center where Spirit/Soul resides and have extreme gratitude IT manifested me back during my conception. During my suffering I have had an opening with zero resistance in a field called ZEN.This spring boarded me into knowing that the Soul does exist and because of the total appreciation IT brought me to right where I stand presently Now, the outer rim has all dropped to zero and the wall searches for itself and no longer can I go back there. As does a tree ever see its roots when it is growing but it knows its roots/past got it there presently and its future stares right in its branches with new growth in the unknown.

Dom, this is a lovely comment. So insightful and definitely in line with my own experience. True, it was painful at the time, yet it is what has brought me where I am. And all the pain of the winding path is long forgotten. New growth abounds, all from those early roots. Thank you for writing.

Namaste David and Kurt

I salute you.

I celebrate!

Your comments fill my heart with joy!

While I acknowledge the good created by those who gather in the name of "God/Allah/ and all 'names' and ways to describe our Oneness"...The seemingly insurmountable differences created by religions endeavoring to secure their physical `kingdoms' on this earth has created much, and continued pain for the human family.

Humbly, I thank you.
Your comments bring me joyful hope for humanity.
Your extensive knowledge, expertise, understanding and compassion with regard to this message of Oneness is appreciated...
Because of your work... the veils will be lifted for countless souls.

I was born and raised in a strict Irish Catholic tradition... moved to a culturally and religiously eclectic Canada.... traveled and worked in many countries.... and many third world countries ( in Africa, SE Asia, India, and China)... Yes there are differences... a bird called a robin in Ireland is very small, but in Canada it is much much larger... so too with humanity... there are differences... But instead of using "Power to"... The corruptness of power (with religions who wish to ensure the continuance, and expansion of their power bases) chose to utlize "power over" others... and to corrupt the Truth... distancing one from another... even onto persecution and death.
It is so obvious... so 'known' in my whole being that we are One. One need not travel to 'know' this... it is 'known' with the heart.... we are one pulsing heart... surging and living together.

I believe all 'untruths' eventually become illuminated. As the veils are lifting, lies become starkly illuminated. The rate of this illumination of lies.... this lifting of the veils of deceit... has been increasing exponentially. It is only in the last 50+ years for example, that spousal abuse & child abuse have become illuminated. Organizational fraud and corruption historically were for the most part, hidden. But, is now being exposed often. I believe that we are moving to almost instant illumination of lies.
That being said, while I acknowledge the good that organized religion created, the lies are now being brought into "The Light" for all to see. It is apparent that their explanations are flawed... including their restrictive, exclusive definitions of "god".... One. And I feel the anger humanity has at this deceit.

I humbly offer that some times humanity learns what love is, by learning what love is not. And so, it could be offered that these oft perceived horrendous assaults to humanity, may be the realities that 'save us'... return us to Love.

Again... Kurt and David... and exquisite Constance....
Thank You.... each of you... and you as One

There is no doubt... because of You... Your work and your pure intent to assist in the transformation of humanity... we are leaping...

Bless you
Aine

Aine, this is such a beautiful comment. I know your experience reflects that of many. The divine can't be defined in human terms, only experienced. I so totally agree with your statement that we often have to learn what love is not in order to then realize what it is. I can only say that the many twists and turns my own path took in coming to awareness, involving a variety of faith paths, is what has made me who I am today. And what I have become and continue to become, I very much like. Check out my author blog Consciousness Rising, where I go into the journey so much more deeply each day. Again, thanks for your comment.

I resonate with the observation that all veils are thinning, especially
the veils of deceit. Power abuse has been rampant for eons.
My Spirit lit up when you reminded me of this. A new reality is dawning
and I am filled with Joy to watch it manifest !

One of the things lacking in the Dharma community was a readable book that could bring the historical phenomenon of Jesus into dialogue with the wider, universal, understanding of "who we ALL are", be we Hindu, Buddhist, Sufi, Jew etc. When someone becomes interested in a more universal, or even "eastern", "take" on our shared "Buddhahood", but also comes from a conventional Christian background, they can become "conflicted" about Jesus in this wider historical context of all the world's Wisdom Traditions. David's book is so helpful to these people! I gave it to a Christian seminary graduate who was navigating these waters and it was such a gift.

For me, the realization that there cannot be two "powers" or "realities" in the universe dawned about the year 1976, when it suddenly came to me that there cannot ultimately be God AND something else with ultimate being--that nothing can truly have being separate from God, since God is the source of all that is. So everything must in some way be an EXPRESSION of God, and therefore must be dependent on God for its being.

"I fill heaven and earth," an insightful Hebrew writer says of God. If God's presence pervades and fills everything, then there isn't something that's isolated, separate from the divine. As the writer adds, "Beside me there is no god." There just isn't any reality, and power, other than that which is an expression of and utterly dependent on God.

St. Paul confirms this when he says that "IN God we live, and move, and HAVE OUR BEING." So even the most hostile person to God can only "be" because they are an expression of God, share in the life of God, and couldn't exist apart from God.

No wonder the Hebrew psalmist comments, "Where shall I flee from your presence?" He goes on to say that if he journeys to the uttermost parts of the ocean, or to the highest heights of the heavens, or down into the very depths of hell, "even there" God's presence will be with him, uphold him, and guide him (Psalm 139). How can this be? Because God is "all."

In 1976, I came to realize that NOTHING BUT GOD EXISTS. There is only God. How could there be God and something that has separate being from God? From eternity and to eternity, nothing but God exists--and so the "all" is ultimately to be experienced as "all, in all," says St. Paul. We will at last all know that we are expressions, manifestations, incarnations of the One.

To use the terminology of the Judeo-Christian Scriptures, we may be "blind" to this oneness of reality, may be in "darkness" about the real nature of things, may need our "eyes opened," may need the "light" to go on, but in due course--"in the ages to come," as St. Paul puts it--we shall all finally see that everything is God's self-manifestation.

When the light goes on, we shall see that as the Genesis 1 writer said so long ago, we truly are "in the image and likeness of God"--the very reflection of our Creator, our Source, which is becoming incarnate in us in the same way as in Jesus. For as the writer of the first letter of John affirms, "as he is, so are we in this world."

How did you move from traditional Christianity to non-dual?
