One of the most common things we say in a day is, “Have a nice day.”
But what exactly do we mean by “a nice day?”
Michael Brown suggests in his book Alchemy of the Heart that such a statement means nothing. It’s an emotionally vacant expression.
What do you feel when you say, “Have a nice day?” What does a “nice” day mean to you?
And when someone says to you, “Have a nice day,” what effect does this have on you?
What exactly is a nice day to you? How does a nice day feel?

I do something nice for someone, and they email me back, "Oh, thank you so much. I love you!"
People often tell us, "I love you" when we do nice things for them. But then when we disappoint them, it's a different story. Now they are mad at us. We no longer hear the words "I love you so much."
So is this really love?
